About the Book

Fourteen-year-old Mage Martin is a child of prophecy who lives the life of a princess in the castle of Aurafable. The day she was born, The Master bestowed her with a rare aura egg containing her gifts. She received dragonspeech and tends the royal dragons. As the Sign of the Returner foretold by the Great Prophecy, she must identify the Dragon King when he returns one day to vanquish the Dark One, but is she worthy?

When one of Mage’s dragon friends accidentally burns down the gates to the castle, the Master Egg—the most important aura egg in the Realm—is in danger from the Dark One. Mage’s mentor, Lord Marcus, shows her the egg shard that the dragon had stepped on, and it comes from the long-lost aura egg of her best friend, Green Wing, a dragon who died recently protecting the Master Egg.

The Master tells Mage to protect the Master Egg and its counterpart. She travels with her dragon friends to warn Wiseman, the aged albino dragon who protects the Queen Egg. From there, they journey across the Realm to save the Two Eggs.

Mage learns of a friend’s treachery and realizes she has committed her own. All seems lost until she learns the power of forgiveness and steps into her destiny as the Sign of the Returner.
